PETA AND THEIR SCARY TACTICS

PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, is a proponent of euthanasia. The definition of euthanasia says that animals that are seriously ill are put to a painless death. It would be difficult to find a human being who would disagree with this function, but this is the only type of killing of animals that PETA will discuss; they are also accused of “euthanizing” (an incorrect use of the word) healthy animals. They receive several animals in their shelters and have not been able to find homes for all of them. The percentage of healthy animals that PETA has killed has been estimated to be 85% of the total number of animals rescued by them.

No matter how PETA tries to justify their practice of killing animals when they cannot find homes for them, it is not necessary to do so 85% of the time as PETA does. The Humane Society has discovered this to be the truth. The Humane Society of Nevada began to implement a strategy of refusing to kill the animals that are surrendered to them; as a result, they have saved 90% of their animals from the risk of being put to sleep. So it can be done and several other shelters have also gone out of their way not to kill their animals with even better results than the Nevada Humane Society.

PETA, which is in the business of recklessly ending the lives of animals, is protesting the actions of slaughterhouses in a new way. The Amityville house is currently on the market and PETA would like to lease it for the purpose of setting up a house of horrors which demonstrates the cruelty that is done to animals in slaughterhouses. “In our horror house, the sound of slaughterhouse blades whirring while animals scream for their lives would play over loudspeakers.” Tracy Reiman, vice-president of PETA wrote to the present owners of the Long Island home. Visitors would be able to see animatronic hens struggling for space inside tiny battery cages and lifelike ‘fish’ gasping for air as they slowly suffocate on the deck of a fishing boat.” Good luck with that one.

It is up to you to decide whether or not PETA can be a credible protector of animals. In an earlier post I had already mentioned that they were annoying. This latest move makes them even more so.

PETA AND ITS OUTRAGEOUS TACTICS

I have considered the tactics of ecoterrorists who, for example, set automobiles on fire to save the environment even though the fire pollutes the air, as counterproductive to their cause to save the environment and animals. Other organizations also encourage their followers to perform stunts but with less dire consequences. PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, perform much more benign stunts in the name of saving animals.

PETA has targeted events such as fashion shows in the past. As may be obvious, PETA is against using fur such as happens when designers make fur coats. To show their disgust for the whole idea of fur coats members of PETA have shown up at fashion shows and interrupted the models of offending designers. They have also disrobed in a statement which says they “…would rather go naked than wear fur.”

These tactics, although they may offend some and interrupt the goings on of a fashion show, a dog show, etc., are not dangerous. The point PETA is making by performing these stunts is that they want to bring attention to the plight of animals. They do this very well because every time they show up to protest an event they become the main subject of the news. They may be annoying, but they have a good cause.

The Brilliance of Peacocks

The blue peacocks lives in India and Sri Lanka. They are large birds and are capable of flying even though their tails can be as large as five feet. It has been known that the male peafowl, known as the peacock, is the one that is colorful. The female peafowl is known as the peahen. The purpose of the colorful peacock’s feathers is to impress the peahens; they choose their mates based on the brilliance of the peacock’s feathers which come in colors such as blue, green, gold and red. The ones with the best colorful display are the luckiest in love matters and they may have the most peahens in their harems. It seems that the term "peacock" has been aptly used for some human males!

The Indian Peafowl has been bestowed with a well-deserved honor. India has designated the peafowl as its national bird. Pakistan also has similarly honored this bird by making it their provincial bird. It's no wonder since this bird can be so resplendent and that's a good image to have for a country.

The brilliant peacock shown in the picture was showing off its feathers in this moment and demonstrated what is so great about the peacock. This particular peacock resided at the Los Angeles Zoo where this establishment works to bring dwindling animal populations up to more plentiful numbers.
